The concluding part of George Clarke’s new series which revisits past contributors who have left behind the hustle and bustle of city life to create a new lifestyle in the countryside.
This week we are given a reminder of some of the historic and unusual properties that have been successfully renovated and previously featured on the programme. David Forster spent nearly four years transforming a water tower in Norfolk (right) into a six-floor family home with breathtaking views. In Spain, Nick and Lesley Vallance bought a 400-year-old derelict palace and turned it into an eight-bedroom designer hotel and family home.
We discover just how these major reconstructions were made possible.
ENTERTAINMENT: THE CHARLOTTE CHURCH SHOW
Thursday July 24,2008
What, When & Where Channel 4: 10pm
Charlotte Church turns the tables on Jonathan Ross
The Welsh songstress is tonight joined by a man who is no stranger to interviews – Jonathan Ross.
But this time the witty chatshow host is on the receiving end of a grilling as it’s Church who will be asking the questions.
The show’s Lady To Ladette strand continues and this week the four remaining girls are taught the essentials needed for a rollicking night out in Cardiff based on Church’s philosophy of dressing, drinking, dancing and doners.
Music comes from Adele and the cheeky hostess once again dons disguises to fool some unsuspecting members of the public.
LIFESTYLE: THE HOTEL INSPECTOR
Thursday July 24,2008
What, When & Where Five: 9pm
The Hotel Inspector Alex Polizzi
Alex Polizzi continues her mission to change the face of Britain’s hotels.
The industry expert whose family owns the renowned Rocco Forte group is hellbent on helping those whose businesses are in dire need of a makeover and whose fortunes look bleak. This week Polizzi is in Tewkesbury, offering much-needed advice to New Yorker Ralph Parisi and his English partner Sarah Pountain (right), whose pretty boutique townhouse hotel, as described on their website, desperately needs a facelift. But it’s not just the hotel that needs help; the owners are on the verge of splitting up under the pressure. The couple bought the Jessop House Hotel, an eight-bedroom establishment situated just yards from the town’s famous abbey, three years ago but things have gone from bad to worse for them. Tired furniture and threadbare carpets are just two of many things that need replacing but it appears Parisi opposes a refurbishment. However, Polizzi has a few tricks up her sleeve to make him grasp just what needs to be done to give the hotel a crucial revamp.
