NO BIDS FOR TORRES - ATLETICO CHIEFMonday June 25,2007 Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo insists there are no offers on the table for star striker Fernando Torres. Some of Europe's biggest clubs have reportedly been interested in Torres over the last few years, with Champions League finalists Liverpool the latest side to be closely linked with the Spain international.
"We have had no offer from Liverpool for Torres," Cerezo said. "He is on his holiday and resting." He added: "All the players have a (buy-out) clause in their contract and in that case we would not be able to do anything, but I repeat that there has been nothing about Torres from any team. "We are now working to create a good team for the coming year." Torres, 23, scored 14 league goals in 36 starts this season as Atletico finished seventh in La Liga. |
