NERVOUS BRIDE NICOLE STARS IN HER VERY OWN LOVE STORY

Monday June 26,2006

AFTER years of heartache, unlucky-in-love Nicole Kidman has put the past behind her and married country singer Keith Urban in a fairytale ceremony.

Thousands of well-wishers filled the streets of the Australian actress's home town Sydney as she travelled to the candlelight wedding at a Gothic-style chapel on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Police struggled to control fans as her cream Rolls-Royce drove by but radiant Kidman, 39, smiled, waved and mouthed to the throng: "Thank you all for coming."

The Hollywood star, who admitted she was nervous about the nuptials, wore an elegant ivory gown from the French fashion house Balenciaga.

Despite the buzz of helicopters, high-level security and a guest list that included Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman, the traditional Catholic ceremony in the Cardinal Cerretti Chapel was a family affair.

Kidman's father Antony gave her away to music from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The readings were chosen by her mother Janelle, sister Antonia was matron of honour and Nicole's adopted children, Isabella, 13, and Connor, 11, were bridesmaid and usher.

Baz Luhrmann, director of Moulin Rouge in which Nicole starred, said: "This is a very special love story."

The Romeo and Juliet-themed reception was in a white marquee and former cocaine addict Urban, 38, serenaded his new wife with one of his own songs, Making Memories Of Us.

The pair are expected to honeymoon in Tahiti. It is understood they have a pre-nuptial agreement that if Urban returns to drugs, Nicole will not pay him a penny.

The wedding was a far cry from Kidman's 1991 union with Tom Cruise in a no-frills Scientology ceremony which even her parents did not attend. The pair divorced in 2001.
