Earlier the pair had hugged and made up during a recording of This Is Your Life – about Cowell.

They had fallen out when he sacked pop mogul Walsh as a judge.

A host of stars turned up for the post-show par­ty in Mayfair. Also there was Express News­papers’ owner Rich­ard Desmond with his wife Janet.

Among the stars were singers Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, TV host Jerry Springer, actress Amanda Holden, impresario Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and X Factor winners Shayne Ward and Leona Lewis.
