BROWN ADMITS IRAQ 'DIVIDED NATION'

Sunday May 27,2007

Gordon Brown has said that he took "collective responsibility" for the decision to go to war with Iraq.

Speaking at the Hay Festival in Mid Wales, where he was promoting a new book on his political heroes, Mr Brown admitted: "It's clearly divided the country."

He urged people to "be fair" to Tony Blair over his 10-year premiership and spoke of the Prime Minister's "enduring achievement".

Family formed a core part of his wide-ranging discussion in front of a 1,200 capacity audience.

Proceeds from the book, Courage, are going to the Jennifer Brown Foundation, set up by the Chancellor and his wife after the death of their daughter. He spoke emotionally of the profound effect she had had on his life.

He said: "It made me believe that every single child matters. Every single child deserves our best endeavours and deserves our support to help them make the most of their potential.

"If I was taught something by the experience it is that every child is precious. We have a duty as a society for every child to make the best of themselves. It is an absolute duty. It's not something we can walk away from."

Talking to interviewer Mariella Frostrup, a casually-dressed Mr Brown appeared relaxed. He cracked jokes with the audience but at times struggled to be heard above the torrential rain inside the marquee.

The audience was given a glimpse into the kind of prime minister Mr Brown will be during the event.

He said his vision was for "all countries and all continents" to work together to a common aim. Mr Brown also promised a new form of government when he becomes prime minister later this year, and said that public consultation will be an important part of that.

THE ONLY PUBLIC CONSULTATION THAT WE ARE INTERESTED IN!

28.05.07, 12:02pm

Is a full and proper public consultation in which we elect our leaders, A GENERAL ELECTION!

Furthermore as an ENGLISHMAN I demand the right to receive parity with the rest of the UK, the Welsh, Scottish and Irish people all vote for their own assemblies and then elect a government for England as well.

CAKE AND EAT IT as the saying goes Jock BROONE if they elect you and want you they are welcome to you, but since when have they had the right to elect moronslike you to assett strip my country for their benefit!

PAVING THE WAY ----

27.05.07, 7:47am

Here he goes -- 8 billion for African hospitals and schools, -- how much will he earmark of OUR tax money to pay for Iraqi schools and hospitals? How come there's all this money for other countries and none for our own hospitals and schools? Why is the education of all the other children in the world more important than our own? Will his tax questionnaire be one of the first things on THEIR curriculum? It was only yesterday that he was banging on about having no control over all these countries that he's throwing OUR tax money at. Try insisting that foreign schools should be teaching that homosexuality, lesbianism and cross dressing is a lifestyle alternative Gordon!
