DONORS CHIP IN WITH £5M FOR LABOUR

Tuesday May 22,2007

Labour has received nearly £5 million in donations this year - the lion's share of the £11 million given to all parties, the latest figures show.

A quarterly update from democracy watchdog the Electoral Commission revealed the Tories picked up £3.74 million and the Liberal Democrats £1.16 million.

Labour also paid back, or converted into donations, six loans worth a total of £3.23 million.

Secret loans from wealthy backers are at the heart of the cash-for-honours controversy over which charges are being considered by prosecutors.

David Cameron's Conservatives also paid off £19.25 million of loans - funded by the multimillion-pound sell-off of its historic Smith Square London HQ.

CALL ME CYNICAL BUT....

Could it be that some of these wealthy donors want to see Labour remain in power to ensure that the rich get richer….. Let’s face it, Labour HAVE done a lot for the economy – ensuring that those ‘at the top’ get their huge pay rises, healthy bonuses, gold plated pensions and wonderful benefits etc! Interest rates are still going to go up and only those with a healthy bank balance will benefit, ensuring also that THEIR pensions will continue to grow while the majority struggle to meet their mortgage payments, or lose their homes, and have to plan on working well beyond ‘retirement age’ to have a chance of a comfortable retirement!

LABOUR PAID BACK OR CONVERTED INTO DONATIONS?

What the hell are they selling instead of peerages now stop this corruption and limit all parties to fixed memberships or fixed budgets buying your way to power is immoral and should be illegal!

Why should someone be able to buy power to rule over those less fortunate even by the back door by buying a politician!
