And whilst it’s a situation they hardly wanted to find themselves in, the Parry's International Wolves are desperate to show a positive attitude.

The home leg – against either Peterborough or Belle Vue – has already been confirmed for a Tuesday night, October 14. It is believed this is the first ever senior speedway event on a Tuesday night at Monmore Green.

Should the opposition be Belle Vue, the return leg will be the following night and if it’s Peterborough then the Monmore men will travel to the East of England Showground on October 16.

The opponents will be known next Monday after Belle Vue's re-arranged clash with Coventry.

Club owner Chris Van Straaten said: “We didn’t want to be in this position of course, but we will take on the challenge and try and survive at the first hurdle without the need to meet the Premier League champions for a place in next year’s Elite League.”
