The disgraced royal servant fears he will be humiliated if he has to step into the witness box for a second time.

Burrell, 49, has been ordered to return to London from his home in Florida by the coroner Lord Justice Scott Baker after making a series of “confessions” during a drunken chat with an undercover reporter.

Burrell claims he was close to Diana

Burrell claimed he had lied at the inquest and knew he was committing perjury. He also said he put out some red herrings in a bid to confuse the hearing.

The coroner issued an order for him to return and explain his comments but Burrell fears he will be “torn to shreds” by lawyers if he sets foot in court.

A friend said: “Paul is absolutely terrified about going back. He knows he has got to explain himself but does not want to go into court. Some of the French witnesses have given evidence by video link and that’s what Paul wants to do.

“He suffered enough during his last visit to the inquest and says Mohamed Al Fayed’s lawyer Michael Mansfield will tear him to shreds.”

Burrell could be arrested for perjury when he returns to Britain if he ignores the coroner’s request.

It it understood the coroner wants to hear his new evidence before deciding whether to ask Scotland Yard to launch an investigation.

I hope Burrell knows we adore him in the USA. It has been obvious for years that the royal family just used the beautiful Diana to have two sons (good thing they did not come for Camilla), then pushed her off. It is very difficult to believe that your government has allowed these two to marry. I truly think that once this was allowed and completed it marked the end of the royal family in your country. All dignity is lost. To think that this is allowed as acceptable conduct by the Head of the Church of England, Prince Charles, is disgracful. To think that it is your taxpayers money that is paying for their romp all these years, is equally disgusting.

Truly it is not the Burrell that should be disgrace, it is your future King and his opportunistic other half. I can say, I would stand my ground on either one of them getting close to the crown. He wants her, he can move over to Paris just as others have had to do before him. Of course, it is obvious as to why Burrell has been slimed. Wasn't that the plan all along? He probably was the only person in her life that protected her. Does anyone realize that? Now, he is disgraced. I think this shows us just why these inquests do not reveal the truth. When you see an inquest that ins't disgracing the only person who cared for and protected your Princess, you will have an inquest that is not controlled by your establishment. Of course, this will not happen.

Come on, chill out. You are just wandering around the forums, now that there is no McCann forum to get your teeth into. You know as well as I it is pointless expecting too much. I just tend to deliberately piss people off, or light the fuse and stand back, when I can.

It seems that some use the opportunity to voice their opinions about anything CONNECTED to the article by name only. As with this one and the obsession with Diana, her mother, and all those who haven't a clue about the truth whatever that means.

The article is about Burrell. He is in big trouble and he knows it. And he is scared. I do not wish him ill. On the contrary. But I question his reason for lying, what he hoped to accomplish. I commented on that, as invited.

Sometimes I wonder about these forums, their subjects, and whether the host of these forums wonders where people are coming from becaused they so obviously ignore the Article and the Article Summary. It is exasperating to say the very least.

I can't imagine what sort of mantle you have thrown over this Penny with her research and discovery of the "truth." Truth about what? The accident? Burrell? Dodi Fayad's aspirations, expectations? Diana's plans for the future?

Before you seek the truth you need to decide what it is you want the truth about. That's basic.

This forum is all over the place. The Article Summary is about Burrell and his perjury and the consequences and what he thinks about those. I have yet to see anyone post anything of note about that. But that is the way of things with these forums. The Daily Express invites Have Your Say and it becomes a free for all. Many exploit the invitation to make their case for who knows what about Diana. We all have our thoughts and conjecturs. And that is what we do when we comment.

I do not come here to find the truth about anything. Truth is relevant - to the subject. The subject is Burrell and it is obvious what the truth will be about him. If he does not get himself over to England to face the music, it is very clear what the consequences will be for him.

Who the heck cares what Penny does or says or researches. She is just one poster on this forum. Don 't get carried away with your own propaganda Nimue. It counts for no one except yourself - and no doubt this Penny.
