HAVE YOUR SAY

SHOULD WE DIVIDE MUSLIM AND CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS?

Thursday April 5,2007

TEACHERS’ leaders have attacked a “divisive” plan to set up Britain’s first Muslim city academy.

A website giving details of the taxpayer-funded initiative says the school would be “primarily Muslim faith-based” but would be open to children of all religions, backgrounds and abilities.

However, a leading figure from the National Union of Teachers said the idea was at odds with the Government’s aim to unite religious communities across the country.

The proposed academy – in Bradford, West Yorks – would be named the Marmaduke Pickthall Academy for Boys after a scholar who converted to Islam.

*But what do YOU think?  Should we divide Muslim and Christian schools?  Have YOUR say.

MAKE UP YOUR MIND!

09.04.07, 7:23pm

The Idiots in charge say we are an integrated society. If we are so integrated why dont the muslims want to go to our schools?

Will some one please make up their minds. If we are going to segragate our society why not let those who are unhappy leave the country. other options exist, If you want the benefits of our society then you must join in

THE WAY FORWARD

07.04.07, 1:37pm

Hi

The state must insist that all children attend a 'mom faith school from Monday to Friday, during what is recognised as 'normal school hours'!!

However, if the Christians, Muslims, Jews, Etc, etc want their own faith schools - then sobeit, but outside normal school hours and in addition to standard schooling!!!!

We beliwve that is the way forward and we believe in intergration and retaining ones own id, if one choses to but not force it up on another!!!

Thanks so much

NO WAY THIS IS A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY

07.04.07, 10:55am

Why does everything in this country have to revolve around what we are told is a small minority (Muslims). It’s no wonder people have had enough & setting up a muslim only school will only make things worse

MUSLIM AND CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS

07.04.07, 1:18am

in a word NO , enough is enough , mosques in this country have already beem a recruiting ground for terrorists all home grown, these scholl can not be trusted.
I would like to see Muslims who want to live in this country given the choice to just leave all expenses paid. The schools and the Mosques are home from home for these people at the expense of the rest of us.

SCHOOLS AND BELIEF.

06.04.07, 2:16pm

Re: [Well, for the record as a Christian I find this offensive. What are the authorities going to do about my feelings?]

steveg, you should have realised by now the authorities do not give a damn regarding your feelings because you do not qualify as an ethnic minority.

Getting back to the point, yes we should divide schools on faith lines. Everyone has a right to their own religion and/or point of view but they don't have the right to force it on others. Let's be sensible about this, let common sense prevail, be tolerant and tell the PC faction to go hang. Frankly I believe that in an ideal world it would be would be better if all people stayed in their own country but the world is far from ideal and people move around so let's make the best of it and and as long as they respect the secular laws of this country in full we should accept them. No fears, no favours.

MUSLIM SCHOOLS

05.04.07, 10:22pm

What a cheek !
Having read in another story about a council that refuses to finance an Easter Cross to avoid offending other faiths. We now read of the authorities planning a Muslim school to cater for their needs !
I cannot believe the logic in any of this?
Well, for the record as a Christian I find this offensive. What are the authorities going to do about my feelings?
