ALESHA STEPS UP HER TV CAREER

Story Image

Wednesday July 23,2008

SHE rumba’d her way to victory on Strictly Come Dancing and now Alesha Dixon has her heart set on conquering the small screen.

The solo singer, formerly of girl group Mis-teeq, releases her new album later this year but is planning to give Charlotte Church and Lily Allen a run for their money with her own TV show.

“I’ve just set up a TV production company, White Bear Productions, and we’re developing ideas at the minute,” Alesha, 29, told us backstage at the British International Motor Show at London’s ExCel, where she was helping launch the Ford Fiesta Zetec S with a performance of an unreleased track.

“My potential dream and goal is to have my own show. It would be a fun show but with a theme running through it
that tackles and looks at different social issues.”

Alesha, who recently filmed documentary Look But Don’t Touch for BBC3 about airbrushing, already has a few more TV projects on the go.

“We’ve started filming a fly-on-the-wall documentary that’s going to go through my production company, which won’t come out until 2009,” she tells us.

“It’ll be following my journey, making the album and what happens when the album comes out. Then we’re looking at little one-off documentaries that cover different social issues because that is something I’m interested in.

“I like to get out there with people and do things, question things, bring awareness to things and if I’m in a position to do that, I think, why not?

"I’m going to try to do it.”
