Sadly Faye had no choice but to admit on Iranian TV that she together with her colleagues ventured into Iranian territorial waters. The attitude of one of your earlier corresppondents is , to say the least, beyond belief. To even think at this stage to send in the SAS would be suicide. Let the diplomats earn their keep in firstly having patience in trying to obtain the release of the Marines/Sailors by negotiation. If all else fails then other tactics may have to be used. They also have the backing of the United Nations which may also help, and they in turn can put forward the present findings of the incident and prove that the Iranians were wrong.

in reply to the previous post....

Their ship did not support them because by the time they'd scrambled a helicopter to investigate the Iranians had transported them across the territorial boundry (the real one) and into Iranian waters.

I would have expected better from the Royal Marines of all the units in the british military to have surrendered!!, what happended to fighting your way out, if this lot had been living in 1944 and they encountered the Germans they would have taken a few of them with them. todays young people seem to regard the forces as just another job, the female sailor even quoted as sayinbg her baby comes first, then why the hell is she in the navy!?, is this why the marines did not fight because they had a woman on board, ? the kids today are so poisoned and indoctrinated with multi cuturalism and political correctness that they can not function as a military unit as soon as they see a an enemy they get a middle class guilt anxiety attack. some 2,500 young people have gone AW OL in the past 5 years from the forces!, I do not think many of todays young peolpe are suited to the life and while they may say they are committed the fact that this little lot surrended is a repudiation of that.
I would like to know why there ship did not support them?,
I am of a generation which would fight it's way out as you never can trust an enemy , it would have been better to fight it out and live to take the consequences then no one would have been able to prove that they were on the wrong side of the shit al arab waterway dead men do not tell tales.

well well seems these countries can do what they like in other peoples country, think nothing of kidnapping. their attitude leaves alot to be desired. come on SAS go in and get our boys and girl out, seems like this stupid government wont lift a finger. its a pity we dont round their nationals up and treat them the same way, no they know their bread is buttered in this country, and take all they can get. we are far more refined than they will ever be
